LA Happenings: 18 & 19 June

I don’t know about you but I truly believe in work hard, play hard so all week my mind drifts to what to do at the weekend. Luckily I’m spoilt for choice here in LA…

Celebration of Freedom at the Hollywood Bowl

For the first time in the Hollywood Bowl’s history, an all-Black orchestra, the Re-Collective Orchestra, will take the stage, conducted by Thomas Wilkins and Derrick Hodge.

Gaslit $1 Martini Hour

Enjoy $1 martinis from 7 to 9pm at several locations around L.A. courtesy of Starz's Gaslit, including Canter's Deli, Dan Tana's, The Varnish and Grandmasters Recorders.

Pasadena Chalk Festival

More than 500 artists will create temporary masterpieces in chalk on the streets of Pasadena at the Paseo Colorado shopping center during this street painting festival while thousands of onlookers watch where they walk.

Summer Bash at Hollywood Park

Grab a meal from some food trucks, peruse a local business expo and hiring fair, and check out music and arts presentations during this free Juneteenth celebration held on the plaza outside of SoFi Stadium.

The Great Los Angeles River CleanUp

Sure, it doesn’t look so glamorous now, but give it a few years, a billion or so dollars and some much-needed rain, and the L.A. River will be a point of civic pride for Angelenos. Do your part in the process during the Friend’s of the Los Angeles River’s annual cleanup.

You really are spoilt for choice this weekend.
